After having studied with the greatest - including six years at Robert Clergerie, and six at Chanel – Avril felt the need to try her own concept.

She founded the brand, bearing her name in 2002, and the success was immediate. In 2006 she introduces her first bag collection. She creates bags that are as light as aesthetic, with a design that is carefully considered to be functional and always with that hint of “little extra” that ensures that her bags are never forgotten in the back of the wardrobe. The clients keep coming back for more.

In 2010, still a one-woman show, she opens her first boutique in Paris: a setting nestled in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés that she decorates herself. Shortly after the opening, the boutique got a unique touch by the interior designer Aurélie Rimbert, who created a beautiful and eye-catching brass mesh for the boutique.

In 2012, a second Avril Gau boutique is opened at rue Croix-des-Petits-Champs. In 2017, an ovarian cancer forces Avril Gau to re-evaluate her way of working. She takes some distance and prioritizes the pleasure and joy of creation, while continuing her hyperactive way of life with a slightly different approach.
